INTRO
Welcome to ~Chikorita-Awareness, a club devoted to spreading the love about Chikorita; the most forgotten starter in the Johto region.
Polls have shown that Chikorita is the least popular...
Well, we want to fix that!
Here at ~Chikorita-Awareness, we want to show the Pokemon community that Chikorita can be great and useful, and also a great companion! Not only Chikorita, but it's evolutions: Bayleef and Meganium.
The History of Chikorita
On October 15th, 2000, Gold and Silver versions were released in the United States. Players were introduced to three starter Pokemon: Cyndaquil, an echidna on fire. Totodile, a crocodile that spit water. And Chikorita, a jelly bean with a leaf on its head.
Many ran straight for the Big Jaw Pokemon or the Fire Mouse Pokemon, leaving poor Chikorita in the dust. Many players were fearful of the first gym being of the Flying type, and therefore chose Pokemon that would be in their favor. However, little did they know that as Chikorita grew and evolved, it learned powerful and useful moves such as Poisonpowder, Synthesis, and Solarbeam.
With the release of Heart Gold and Soul Silver approaching quickly (sometime in early 2010 in the United States) we want to make sure people think twice about choosing their starter. Maybe the little green Pokemon they thought was useless is more useful after all?
